ClearStop™ Privacy Policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
This policy explains what personal information ClearStop, LLC ("ClearStop," "we") collects through clearstop.ai and app.clearstop.ai, and how we use and protect it.
1. Scope
ClearStop provides factual evidence review to licensed defense attorneys. The ClearStop™ service is for attorneys and their staff, not for the public.
This policy covers two kinds of information:
- Account and website information: information about attorneys, firm staff and visitors to our websites.
- Case Materials: records and recordings that attorneys upload for review. These often contain personal information about defendants, officers and others. We handle Case Materials on behalf of the attorney who uploaded them, under our Client Services Agreement with that attorney's firm. This policy describes how we protect them, but the attorney controls them.
We do not knowingly collect information from children through our websites.
2. Information We Collect

| Case Materials | Reports, videos, transcripts and other case records | The attorney who uploads them |
We do not receive or store full card or bank account numbers.
3. How We Use It
- To create, verify and secure accounts, including confirming bar admission.
- To receive Case Materials, perform reviews and deliver Reports.
- To process payments and keep billing records.
- To send service emails (account, security, case-status and report-ready notices). Our service emails never contain case details or evidence.
- To keep an audit trail of custody, access and administrative actions.
- To maintain, secure and improve our checks and the portal.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We use Case Materials only to provide the services to the attorney who uploaded them, as our Client Services Agreement allows. We do not use Case Materials to train third-party artificial-intelligence models.
4. How We Share It
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
We share information only:
- With service providers who process it for us under confidentiality and security obligations: Amazon Web Services (hosting and encrypted storage, in the United States), Stripe (payments), Microsoft (email) and Cloudflare (website hosting and security).
- Within your firm: Reports and Case Materials are visible to the Authorized Users of the firm that submitted the Case.
- For legal reasons: when required by subpoena, court order or law. For Case Materials, we notify the attorney first where the law allows.
- In a business transfer: to a successor in a merger or sale, which must honor this policy.
5. Cookies
The portal (app.clearstop.ai) uses only cookies needed for sign-in and security. It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The website (clearstop.ai) currently uses no advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics there, we will update this policy first.
6. Security
- Multi-factor authentication is required for every account. We do not use text-message codes.
- Case Materials are encrypted in transit and at rest. Downloads require a signed-in session and use short-lived links that are never emailed.
- Each uploaded file's SHA-256 hash is recorded on receipt, and an audit log records access and administrative actions.
- Access by ClearStop personnel is limited to those who need it to perform the services.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
7. Retention
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Draft cases never submitted | Deleted 90 days after last activity, after two email warnings |
| Reports and Case Materials | Downloadable for 30 days after delivery; then archived for 12 months; then deleted |
| File hashes, audit log, agreement acceptances | Kept after deletion to document custody |
| Account information | While the account is open, and for up to 3 years after closure |
| Billing records | As long as tax and accounting law requires |
8. Your Choices
You can view and update your account information in the portal settings. You can ask us to close your account, or to access, correct or delete your personal information, by writing to privacy@clearstop.ai. We will respond within a reasonable time. Some records (billing, custody logs, and Case Materials an attorney must retain) may need to be kept as described above. Requests about Case Materials, including from people named in them, are referred to the attorney who uploaded them.
9. Changes
We will post any change to this policy here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be emailed to account holders.
